What to know about the Cash+
Each quarter the cardholder enrolls in two 5% categories and one 2% category; without enrollment, all purchases earn no more than 1% 2. The 5% options listed by U.S. Bank are cell phone providers, department stores, electronics stores, fast food, furniture stores, ground transportation, gym and fitness centers, home utilities, movie theaters, select clothing stores, sporting goods stores, and TV, internet and streaming services 3. Category options may change from quarter to quarter 1. Spending above $2,000 a quarter in the 5% categories earns 1% 2.
The 2% choice is gas stations and EV charging stations, grocery stores, or restaurants, with no cap on 2% earnings 23. Grocery purchases at discount stores, supercenters such as Target and Walmart, and wholesale clubs earn 1%, and so do gas and EV charging purchases at those stores and at grocery stores 2. Prepaid air, hotel and car reservations booked in the U.S. Bank Travel Center earn 5% 2. Cash back has its full value as a statement credit or a deposit into an eligible U.S. Bank account, and it expires at the end of the calendar month 36 months after the billing cycle in which it was earned 2.
The card has a 3% foreign transaction fee 2. There is no card-specific Guide to Benefits; the Benefits Center links the general Visa Signature guide, which covers Travel and Emergency Assistance (referrals only, costs paid by the cardholder) 34. Roadside Dispatch is pay-per-use 5. Neither the product page nor the Benefits Center lists rental car, purchase, extended warranty or cell phone protection for this card 13.

Other versions of this card
U.S. Bank also offers the U.S. Bank Cash+ Secured Visa Card. It earns rewards on the same terms as the card above; these are the differences U.S. Bank lists.
U.S. Bank Cash+ Secured Visa Card
| Annual fee | $07 |
|---|---|
| Foreign transaction fee | 3%7 |
| What differs | The Cash+ Secured Visa Card is the credit-building version: it requires a refundable security deposit of $300 to $5,000, which sets the credit limit, and uses the same quarterly 5%/2%/1% category choices 67. U.S. Bank reports the card to the three major credit bureaus and says cardholders may be able to graduate automatically to the Cash+ Visa Signature Card after a periodic review of their credit history, with the deposit returned on graduation 67. |
| Credit line reviews | Card activity is reported to the three major credit bureaus; cardholders may be able to automatically graduate to the unsecured Cash+ Visa Signature Card, with the security deposit returned on graduation (based on U.S. Bank's periodic review of credit history).67 |
| Refundable security deposit sets the credit limit | Security deposit of $300 to $5,000, held in a U.S. Bank secured savings account; credit limit equals the deposit.6 |
| Choose your payment due date | Cardholder can pick a payment due date by calling the number on the card; not all dates may be available.6 |
