What to know about Citi cards

The Citi-branded lineup falls into a few groups. The Strata Elite, with a $595 annual fee, and the Strata Premier, with a $95 fee, are the travel cards and earn their highest rates on hotels, car rentals and attractions booked through Citi Travel 65. The Strata and the Double Cash Card are no-annual-fee rewards cards, Citi's catalog presents the $0-fee Diamond Preferred for balance transfers and the $0-fee Simplicity for purchases, and it lists the Citi Secured Mastercard under building credit 1. Citi stopped accepting applications for the Citi Custom Cash Card as of May 28, 2026; existing cardmembers keep their cards and benefits, and Citi directs cash back applicants to the Double Cash Card 2.

ThankYou Points earned on the Strata cards can be redeemed through Citi Travel, for gift cards, cash back and Shop with Points, or transferred to airline and hotel partners such as American Airlines, JetBlue and Virgin Atlantic, with a minimum transfer of 1,000 points 5. The Double Cash Card's cash back is also paid as ThankYou Points and can be taken as cash at 10,000 points for $100 8. Citi's terms say the ThankYou Rewards program may be terminated with 30 days' prior written notice, after which members would have 90 days to redeem their points 4.

Protection benefits are described in a Guide to Protection Benefits that Citi sends with the card, and Citi's terms note that benefits carry limitations, including on the amount of coverage 4. Card-specific benefit details are shown after signing on at cardbenefits.citi.com 3. For the Strata Elite and Strata Premier, the pricing terms name New Hampshire Insurance Company, an AIG company, as the provider of coverage and describe it as secondary except where stated; on the Strata Elite, MasterRental car rental coverage is primary outside the renter's country of residence 74.

Citi's card terms name Citibank, N.A., Sioux Falls, SD, as the issuer of the account 4. In May 2024 Citi renamed the Citi Premier Card the Citi Strata Premier Card, moved it to the Mastercard network and added trip cancellation and interruption, trip delay, lost or damaged luggage and MasterRental coverage 9.
