What to know about American Express cards

The Platinum Card and the Gold Card earn Membership Rewards points, whose value varies with how they are used 2. Points can go toward travel through American Express Travel, Pay with Points, gift cards and transfers to participating airline programs, and each transfer to a U.S. airline's frequent flyer program carries a fee of $0.0006 per point, up to $99 62. The Blue Cash cards earn Reward Dollars, which can be redeemed for statement credits or at Amazon.com checkout with no minimum 3.

American Express's benefit policies page links a separate page for each protection, such as Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance, Purchase Protection, Extended Warranty, Return Protection, Cell Phone Protection and Trip Delay, and each of those pages lists the eligible cards with a link to the guide that applies 4.

Cell Phone Protection, Trip Cancellation and Interruption, and Trip Delay are provided by New Hampshire Insurance Company, an AIG Company, while the Baggage Insurance Plan, car rental coverage, Extended Warranty and Purchase Protection are underwritten by AMEX Assurance Company 2. For Purchase Protection, Extended Warranty and baggage questions the terms give 1-800-228-6855, and for car rental coverage 1-800-338-1670 2.

Card Members can see a free FICO Score and Experian credit report through MyCredit Guide 5. The Platinum terms state that Lufthansa lounge access ran through September 30, 2026 and ended on October 1, 2026 2. The American Express Green Card no longer appears in the personal card catalog, and its former product address redirects to the catalog 71.
