What to know about the VentureOne

The base rate of 1.25 miles per $1 applies to net purchases with no cap, so the 5X rates matter only for stays, vacation rentals and rental cars that are booked inside Capital One Travel 2. Miles cover travel at 100 miles per $1, whether booked through Capital One Travel or applied to travel purchases that posted within the last 90 days 2. Transfers to partner loyalty programs are final once made, and the receiving program's terms then apply 1.

Capital One Travel bookings of eligible flights, hotels and rental cars come with a price match if a cheaper qualifying itinerary is reported within 24 hours of booking 1. Hertz Five Star status is not automatic: cardholders enroll through the Benefits tab in Capital One's website or app, and the offer is subject to change 4.

The issuer does not say on the product page or in the rates and fees which payment network a VentureOne account uses 12. Its Guide to Card Benefits for VentureOne and five other cards applies to accounts on the Discover Network, and its benefits-guide page directs cardholders to the guide matching the logo on their card or statement 35. For Discover Network accounts only, that guide lists trip cancellation and interruption up to $1,500 per person, baggage delay pay of $100 a day for up to 3 days, lost luggage up to $3,000 per trip, purchase security up to $1,000 per claim and an extended warranty that doubles warranties of 2 years or less 3. Its rental car collision coverage is primary only when renting outside your country of residence 3.
