What to know about the Venture

Only bookings made inside Capital One Travel earn 5 miles per $1; incidentals and upgrades paid at the property earn the standard rate, and the 5X Entertainment rate covers tickets bought on the Capital One Entertainment platform, not the Capital One Hall or Arena box offices 2. Miles are worth $1 per 100 when booked through Capital One Travel or used to cover travel purchases within 90 days, and they can be moved to 15+ travel loyalty programs 21.

Capital One's product page and rates and fees do not name the card's network 12. Its Guide to Card Benefits for Venture and five other cards covers accounts on the Discover Network, and the benefits-guide page tells cardholders to check the logo on the card or the statement to find the right guide 36. For Discover Network accounts, rental car collision coverage is primary only outside your country of residence; at home it pays the deductible and charges your own insurance leaves, for rentals of up to 31 days paid in full with the card 3.

The same guide lists, again for Discover Network accounts only, trip cancellation and interruption up to $1,500 per person, baggage delay pay of $100 a day for up to 3 days after a 4-hour delay, lost luggage up to $3,000 per trip and purchase security up to $1,000 per claim 3.

Venture carries no complimentary lounge visits; Capital One's lounge terms let Venture cardholders buy Capital One Lounge and Landing passes at $45 per guest 18 and older and $25 per guest 17 and under 4. The travel document credit is limited to one per account every 4 years and must be charged to the card 5. Hertz status needs enrollment through the Benefits tab 5.
