What to know about the Autograph

Whether a purchase earns 3X depends on the merchant's Visa category code rather than on what was bought 1. Bakeries, grocery stores and third-party delivery services may not count as restaurants, and fuel bought at superstores, warehouse clubs, grocery stores, auto repair shops or car washes may miss the bonus 1. Streaming qualifies only for services listed at wellsfargo.com/autographstreaming, and bundled or third-party-billed subscriptions may not; handsets, accessories and third-party-billed plans may not earn the phone-plan bonus 1. Everything else earns 1 point per $1 of net purchases 2.

Points stay valid while the account is open 2. They can be redeemed as cash, for gift cards, travel or charitable donations, through Pay with Rewards, or transferred online to participating travel loyalty programs at 1 Wells Fargo point to 1 partner mile, point or credit unless Wells Fargo states otherwise 2. The product page says every points transfer is final 1.

For phone coverage, the monthly wireless bill has to be charged to the card; protection starts the first day of the following calendar month and pays up to $600 a claim after a $25 deductible, capped at 2 paid claims and $1,200 per 12 months 3. Missing phones with no sign of theft, cosmetic damage and cracked screens that do not affect function, tablets and smartwatches fall outside it, and the guide describes it as supplemental to and excess of other valid insurance 3.

Rental cars paid in full with the card, with the counter's collision coverage declined, are protected up to $50,000 against damage or theft; that protection is secondary within the United States and primary elsewhere, for rentals of up to 15 consecutive days in the U.S. and 31 outside it 3. Roadside Dispatch is pay-per-use, and Autograph cardholders also get access to Autograph Card Exclusives ticket offers for live events, with limited availability on a first come, first served basis 31.
