Bank of America: Preferred Rewards becomes BofA Rewards

Bank of America announced BofA Rewards on February 18, 2026, describing it as a no-fee loyalty program for clients who hold a personal checking account.1 The press release says enrollment opens May 27 and that BofA Rewards replaces Preferred Rewards on that date.1 Its footnote says Preferred Rewards becomes BofA Rewards “on or about May 26, 2026”, and that members enrolled on the transition date are moved to the new program automatically.1 Existing tiers were mapped as follows: Gold and Platinum members moved to Preferred Plus, Platinum Honors to Preferred Honors, and Diamond Honors to Premier.1

For card rewards, Bank of America’s program page lists four tiers by combined average balance in qualifying deposit and investment accounts: Member (no minimum), Preferred Plus ($30,000), Preferred Honors ($100,000) and Premier ($1,000,000).2 Enrolled members with eligible Bank of America cards can receive a rewards bonus of 10%, 25%, 50% or 75%, depending on tier.2 On cards that already get the 10% customer bonus, the BofA Rewards bonus replaces it.2 The bank’s own example is a $100 purchase earning 3% ($3.00), which earns $3.30, $3.75, $4.50 or $5.25 depending on tier.2 Cardholders who enrolled in Preferred Rewards before May 26, 2026 “may be eligible for an extended card benefit”, and the details appear after signing in to BofA Rewards.2 The Bank of America issuer page lists the cards in our data.

Citi closes the Custom Cash Card to new applicants

Citi’s Custom Cash product page states that Citi stopped accepting applications for the card as of May 28, 2026.3 On the same page, Citi says existing cardmembers are not affected and can keep using the card and its benefits.3 It points applicants who want a cash back card to the Citi Double Cash Card.3

American Express: lounge, Priority Pass and dining credit changes

Lufthansa lounges. The Platinum terms say Platinum Card Members have access to Lufthansa Lounges through September 30, 2026, and no access to any Lufthansa Lounge from October 1, 2026.5 See airport lounge access for how the card benefits compare.

Priority Pass guest fees. Platinum Card Members enrolled in Priority Pass get complimentary access for up to two guests at lounges that admit guests.5 Fees for any further guests are charged to the card account on file with Priority Pass.5 From May 19, 2026, those guest fees “may be automatically charged to your Card or paid during the check-in process” at the lounge, as check-in staff instruct.5 From June 22, 2026, the terms also say American Express will verify the cardmember’s email address and pass it to Priority Pass.5

Resy credit now includes Tock. On both the Platinum Card and the Gold Card, eligible Resy purchases include, from September 15, 2026, purchases made directly on exploretock.com and in the Tock app (for example prepaid reservations and deposits) at establishments located in the U.S.56 Platinum’s Resy credit is up to $100 each quarter, and Gold’s is up to $50 semi-annually. Both require enrollment.56 Amex adds that eligible Resy purchases are subject to change at any time.5

Capital One: Venture X lounge terms, Discover and network benefits

Venture X lounge terms. Capital One’s Lounge and Landing and Priority Pass terms show “Last updated: July 8, 2026”.4 The page does not say which provisions changed on that date, so this log records the rules in that version rather than a list of changes. Under it, only primary cardholders get complimentary lounge access.4 Additional cardholders need a lounge access fee of $125 per year each.4 Primary cardholders who spend at least $75,000 on purchases in a calendar year can bring up to 2 complimentary guests to Capital One Lounges and 1 to Capital One Landings per visit. That guest benefit does not apply to Priority Pass lounges.4 Once unlocked, guest access lasts for the rest of that calendar year, all of the following year, and until January 31 of the year after.4 Paid guest passes cost $45 per visit for guests 18 and older and $25 for guests 17 and under at Capital One Lounges and Landings, and $35 per guest at Priority Pass lounges.4 More detail is on the Venture X page.

The Discover merger, as background. Capital One says Discover merged into Capital One on May 18, 2025, and that the two are now one company under Capital One, N.A.9 In a February 23, 2026 article, Capital One says its credit cards run on three payment networks: Discover, Visa or Mastercard.11 It also says alerts, card lock and $0 liability for unauthorized charges are the same on all of its credit cards.11

A separate benefits guide for the Discover Network. Capital One publishes a Guide to Card Benefits for Venture, VentureOne, Savor, SavorOne, Quicksilver and QuicksilverOne accounts that run on the Discover Network.8 The guide states that it “describes the benefits in effect as of 02/01/2026” and replaces any earlier benefits information.8 Its table of contents lists extended warranty protection, purchase security, price protection, concierge services, auto rental collision damage coverage, baggage delay reimbursement, lost luggage reimbursement and travel accident insurance.8 Capital One’s benefits-guide page tells cardholders to find their account type on their latest paper or online statement.12

Chase: The Edit credit and the Apple Card announcement

The Edit credit on Sapphire Reserve. According to the Sapphire Reserve product page, starting 1/1/2026 a statement credit of up to $250 applies automatically to qualifying purchases with The Edit by Chase Travel, up to $500 in statement credits each calendar year.10 Qualifying purchases are prepaid “Pay Now” stays of 2 nights or more.10 See the Sapphire Reserve page for the card’s other credits.

Apple Card. On January 7, 2026, Apple and Chase announced that Chase will become the new issuer of Apple Card, with the transition expected in about 24 months.7 The release says Mastercard will remain the network.7 It adds that closing is subject to regulatory approvals and that details will be shared with users as the transition date approaches.7 The release also says Apple Card users can continue to use features such as Daily Cash, Apple Card Family and the Savings account.7

How to check whether a change affects your card

  1. Read the dated sentence, not the headline

In the documents cited here, effective dates appear inside the benefit terms. Examples are “Effective October 1, 2026” in the Amex Platinum terms5 and “benefits in effect as of 02/01/2026” in the Capital One guide.8

  2. Note who is covered

Lounge and credit terms often separate primary cardholders from additional cardholders. Capital One’s July 8, 2026 terms, for example, give complimentary lounge access only to primary cardholders.4

  3. Check whether enrollment carried over

Bank of America moved enrolled Preferred Rewards members to BofA Rewards automatically.1 Amex’s Resy credit, by contrast, requires enrollment.56

  4. Keep the account materials the issuer sends

Capital One says its Discover Network guide replaces any benefits information sent before it.8 Chase says it will give Apple Card users more details closer to the transition.7
